A place where people of all ages feel a sense of connections with those around them.

The Karori Event Centre was developed by the Karori Community Hall Trust to replace what were previously three separate hall spaces that were at this location including the former St John’s Church.

The building was funded through the generosity of many Karori residents along with a number of community and national organisations, including Wellington City Council.

In December 2022, the Trust gifted the facility to Wellington City Council for community purposes. Wellington City Council have committed funding to undertake the fitout and will work with the Trust with the intention of finishing the building so that it can open and be used by the community.

The Karori Event Centre is an inviting venue, where people can pursue their interests and connect with the community in a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment.

The Event Centre will meet the needs of Karori, the Western Suburbs and wider Wellington communities. It will provide a place for activities, performances, meetings, celebrations and all kinds of gatherings that develop a strong sense of community.

Affordable to all

Run on a not-for-profit basis, the Centre will be accessible to everybody at a reasonable cost.
